Baldy Notch/Devil's Backbone to summit, descended Baldy Bowl. Great route, didn't ride the lift up. Very windy summit push at the end, lots of people turned back which was unfortunate - the summit was pretty calm and enjoyable.
Beautiful weekday ascent, no one else on the summit. Can someone set up a climber's log in a jar there? Came down a ski run on the way down to save time. Highly recommend this hike for its views, but be ready for some steep ascents.
The Devils Backbone is my FAVORITE on Baldy. I have done this one so many times I cant even remember, but I know that I have never had a bad time on this route. Just a Fun way to spend a day.
I love this ridge, done it many times, even biked it.

Perfect day
I left my wife at the ski lodge and hiked up the backbone. Met some guys practicing their snow skills for Denali. They were heading there in June. I hope they were successful.

Ski lift to Devil's Backbone
Nice hike, pleasant conditions. Made the mistake of coming down a ski run on the way back - was hell on my knees, but very quick.
This was my first time up Baldy and it was great!! Because of the route up Devil's Backbone and the use of fire roads there are no switchbacks to make the climb any easier - straight up, straight down! However, the short rest stops required frequently on the way up allowed us to take in the absolutely gorgeous scenery and landscape of the ridge. The summit had a good number of people, but because of its size there was no crowding.

Very nice!Hiked up directly under the ski lifts to Baldy Notch and then the Devil's Backbone. Not too many people on the summit; about 15-20 at 10am.

Winter AscentTook the Devils Backbone to Harwood to Baldy to West Baldy and back. It was one of the nicest days I've had on Baldy and I had it all to myself.
