Route Climbed: Main Trail Date Climbed: October 5, 2003
Hiked up Granite Chief via the main trail. I then went on to bag Needle and Lyons peaks and returned via the Western States Trail and down into Squaw Valley via some maintainance roads.
Route Climbed: North Ridge Date Climbed: Sept 11th, 2004
Nice fun hike with good milage. Did this as a tune up hike for my upcoming Whitney/Muir/Russel threesome in a week. Beautiful weather and decent views on the hike up. Left the parking lot at 10 a.m. and was on the summit at 12:30 p.m. after chatting with a few people on the way up. Back down by 3 p.m. after a half hour on the summit enjoying the views and reflecting on the date. Then off to Castle peak.
Route Climbed: North Ridge Date Climbed: March 14, 2004
Matthew and I had an enjoyable outing on snowshoes climbing out of Olympic Village. The traverse out to Needle and Lyon peaks was equally fun. Trip Report
Route Climbed: Hiked up from ski area Date Climbed: May 30, 2004
This was summit number two on this beautiful May day for fellow SP'er Dennis Poulin and myself, with the first one being Thunder Mtn near Kirkwood. What a contrast from the day before when winds and snow almost blew us off the summit of Mt. Rose. Great viewpoint. We walked back through the ski area and down the 5 or 6 miles of road that is under the lifts to where we parked our vehicles
Route Climbed: Main Trail Date Climbed: July 12, 2004
Hiked this with my friend Joel. It was my 16th California County High Point. The views are great and it makes for an enjoyable day. Met two pairs of through hikers along the PCT, one offered us a lift pass given her by an earlier hiker. Found a good Chinese restaurant in Truckee in the shopping center near the junction of I-80 and SR-89.
