Standard route from Winfield
What pretty peak with bomber views from the summit! I really like the wide, green bowl between treeline and talus.

Early season on Huron: absolutely spectacular
Spent a stunning morning climbing Huron with Matt Payne from 100summits.com. Took in views of the 3 apostles, then traversed to Browns Peak. Didn't feel so hot due to lack of good conditioning, but made it up and down without any real issues. Trip report: http://intheexpanse.com/mountaineering/huron-browns-june-2010

Huron Peak Trail
I attempted Huron with my hiking partners Sandy, Bill and David. This was my second time on this peak. It was very windy up above the basin, and the summit was socked in for most of the day. The pace was very slow. A winter storm was going to roll in later in the day. We were about 400-500 feet below the summit when the clock struck 12:30 and we decided to turn back. This was the first time I had to turn back on a 14er.

Tough if your outta shape
My first 14er done successfully. I'm proud of myself! I'm still out of shape, and perhaps I was not prepared for it, yet my determination helped me make it. More will come soon!

Standard Route
After killing myself this summer training for the Imogene Pass Run, enjoyed this one as a fun hike/run. 93 minutes up, 48 minutes down. The trail's in wonderful shape. Whoever put the steps in at around 12,300' is a master. Beautiful October morning.

Winfield Route
Early morning start with a moonlit trail up to tree line. A little breezy and cool on the summit with some spectacular views. An awesome trek.
Hiked from Winfield to the summit in 3hrs, first one up there that day with perfect weather, spent a whole hour there basking in the splendid views all around. This was my second peak of 6 in 5 days. Had done Massive the day before.
Good conditions and stayed ahead of the normal Saturday 14er march. Fun little scramble over to Browns that you can make as easy or hard as you choose.
Climbed Huron Peak via North Ridge route coming over Browns Peak. Descended standard route. Beautiful sunny weather, gorgeous views!

Standard route
I was going to try from Cloises Lake, but couldn't find the road, and Clear Creek was running scary-high. Just under 2h to the summit, including negotiating the hideous bog that some people call a "meadow." Trip report

South Winfield Standard Route
Parked just outside of Winfield to add some extra distance. Getting ready for Rainieer in July. Snow on trail in some places. Crossed large snowfield about 3/4 of the way up. Snow was very soft even a 0800. Post holed a bunch. Glissaded on a couilor on the way down and avoided flat snowfield. Nice 14er for someone just starting out if you wait for some of the snow field to melt off. Did this one solo, partner Matt could not make it today.

In the shade
Busted straight up the incline to the bowl. We descended with a variety of implements including a snowboard, a shovel, and a tarp.

First day of summer
Summitted at noon on the first day of summer. The upper slopes were covered in snow. We summitted too late. Our ice axes started to hum and Mindy's hair stood on end. And then BOOOOOM! Eight climbers poured off the summit in what is best decribed as a barely-controlled fall. All made it off the peak safely.
