"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

From Wheeler PeakHiked Wheeler Peak from Lobdell Lake and then backtracked to Patterson. Great day with very little wind and the only ATVs were down low by the lake.

Snow dustingDrove up the 4x4 road from Lobdell Lake, within a couple hundred feet of the summit. There was a dusting of snow most of the way up making it very scenic.

Lobdell Lake roadDuane, Grant, and I got this one on our way south for our North Palisade climb. Duane drove his Explorer to well above Lobdell Lake at about 9800 feet, then we hiked the rest of the way. This peak has over 4000 feet of prominence (P4K), which was the motivation. Great views on a very clear day.

Easy hike via 4wd road4wd road leads from Lobdell lake to the summit. Unfortunate in a way since I had to deal with lazy ATV riders passing me on the way to the summit. Great hike other than that.

Lobell Lake roadCamped at Lobell Lake and drove part way up the road (stopped by snow banks). Nice hike from there with stellar views. Climbed Bald Mtn (to the east in Nevada) later in the day via Nye Canyon.
Did Grant Peak to finish off the Nevada State county highpoints
the next day. Partner was Dennis Poulin. Gorgeous views from the top of Patterson.

The long way from Lobdell LakeWhat beautiful views. I'm surprised more people have tried this peak. It is a very enjoyable hike. For us the wind was screaming and it was cold on the summit so didn't spend much time there. There is no summit register, but I did find a geocache, so signed that.

Route Climbed: The Shorter Way from the west via Lobdell Lake Date Climbed: November 24, 2005This was a very enjoyable climb and quick, too. I would like to go back when I have more time and combine Patterson with Wheeler Peak.
