"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

way coolThe main pools were pretty packed so we drove to a random turnout and hiking down to the creek. Found amazing waterfalls and pools with our own rock beach! Stayed there for a couple hours and only saw one other couple!

West Rim AreaA generally crowded place on this planet but a little scrambling can put your mind in touch with the earth there.

"Call Of The Canyon"You can bet this is where locals go to beat the heat. You can
find a bit more solitude by hiking into the West Fork of Oak Creek.
The snow never bothered me, either.

A difficult climbI climbed this route many times in my Ford Ranger while in college. A great place really. Can get crowded and choked with traffic. Lots of private property too. But solitude can be found.

BeautyBeautiful - but I was too much of a noobie to keep going once the trail faded and I had to get wet. Wish I had pressed on.

West Fork of Oak CreekThis is a very pretty canyon. There was snow in the shaded areas where the sun doesn’t seem to shine. We didn’t have any problem since we were prepared for this. I saw a lot of people in the lower part of the canyon but no one else in the upper part.
