I think it'd make a great winter ascent. I also thought this range, the Smoky's is one of Idaho's better kept secrets. Combined with the Boulder Range, this is a great area.
BTW, I like the name you proposed. Oregon has one by the same name. Thanks for all your input and for your vote.
So how about a name like "Camas Cohp (Pierre's Point)"?
I'm thinking if it we remain with the low snow levels we have been having I may attempt in the next little while and I'll bring a register with that name for it...Is the last section steep enough to worry about avalanches?
Thank you Don, I appreciate the vote and the kind words. Have a Merry Christmas and may your stocking be filled with lots of great hikes for next year.
Thank you for the nice comments and vote. Actually, I'm from Washington state but you are correct, Idaho has a lot of neat stuff. I enjoy visiting there often and will make several trips over there again this year.
Thanks Dan, I really appreciate your words. Just a side note, Dennis Poulin found that he couldn't get his truck across the river last summer due to the undercutting of the opposite bank. It looks like most folks will need to walk it from the highway unless they have fixed it.

Untitled CommentExcellent job, Dean. You Idahoans have much better COHPs than we do in NC. :-(

Untitled CommentThanks Martin. Bob Bolton and I had climbed Hyndman Peak the day before and this one was a fun little mini effort before we headed home.
