"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

Beautiful area!Very beautiful area with dramatic rock formations and great views from the summit. I was surprised how dense and lush (at least for AZ) the forest was on the upper slopes. Didn't see a bear but there was bear scat all over the place. They seem to like the area too...

Very nice trailWell graded trail led up to some interesting "cement" stairs that led to where a lookout once stood. We had a nice day but it did turn hot as we got close to the trailhead. Stewart Campground has 6 nice spots and seems to be pretty popular with bird watchers.

Road Trip EndI only had one day to hike in the range since we were on our way back to New Mexico from a California road trip. So I decided to hike Silver Peak instead of Chiricahua per Weeds recco. It was a perfect day on the mountain. Perfectly still air, perfect temp, and great views. The 3,000 vertical gain/loss was a bit rough on me, but well worth it.

Beautiful Fall AfternoonA breezy, sunny, clear and bone-dry Arizona fall afternoon. The hike went great and the views from the top are superb.

out of the way wonder!Combined with a caving trip in Cave Creek Canyon. This area is amazing! It's like a miniature, more arid Yosemite, but without the people. Beautiful rock formations!
