Attended Yosemite Mountaineering School here in my teens. Prior to those days, all I'd known of climbing was the top rope at Mt. Diablo's Rock City and bouldering at Cragmont and Indian Rock in the Berkeley Hills. The domes of The Meadows stood as friendly ambassadors to the big 'ol world of climbing that is Yosemite.
Successfully humbled myself on the 5.11a overhanging crack on Tideline - at least I found the climb! There are lots of great crack TRs here - I didn't even know the Olmstead Canyon area existed until this weekend. Climbed multiple other routes in the Tuolumne area.

favorite pitstop on the way to the high sierra
tuolumne is gorgeous and theres always clean granite lines to be climbed, scrambled or hiked. love to stretch my legs and get the blood flowing here on the way to or from the high sierras
Tuolumne definitely makes the short list of favorite places!

Many times & More to follow!
Most recently, full Falls Ridge Traverse from Pothole Dome with Eric Su and Mason. I've driven through many times, camped here twice, and done some nice hikes on those trips. It is a nice contrast to the heat and bustle of the valley in the summer. However, getting in line before sunrise to get a campsite without reservations still reminds me that this too is a very popular place.
Fond memories built there...and a few sad ones too. But the outcome to all of them lead to wonderful experiences. Climbed Lembert, Stately, Puppy, OZ, Cathedral Peak (a ton of times!!). Unforgetable place!!

Another piece of home turf.I grew up hearing my dad tell me about when he was a kid and Tioga Road ended at Tuolumne Meadows. I grew up backpacking out of here.

Beautiful spotTotally different feel than the Valley and much smaller crowds. Good as base or for just exploring.

Mt. LewisI hiked up this very large lump to the south of Mt. Gibbs with friends Anita and Cori. Spectacular views from the top. The weather was beautiful.
I spent quite a lot of time rock climbing in Tuolumne in the '80s.
