Jericho Sand Dunes ...I went out there in 1974. There was nothing out
there; no restroom nor BLM ranger, but I recall
they had one picnic table.
It was a lonely place. Somebody told me that was
Topaz Mountain in the distance, but now I'm
kicking myself in the head for not exploring further,
and perhaps bringing topaz home for the kids.

Re: Jericho Sand Dunes ...Topaz Mt is on my to do list. I plan to both climb it and hunt for topaz at the bottom. On a hike near Topaz Mt a few years ago I came across some obsidian. At first it was "oh boy, obsidian!", but then it became so plentiful that it was hard to walk without stepping on it.

Re: Jericho Sand Dunes ...Cool! Back when I was exploring solo against the wishes of family,
I came across a huge exposure (deposit) of obsidian in NW Nevada at the Sheldon Antelope
Refuge, which is part of Nevada's Black Rock desert.
Feeling isolated, I grabbed a piece and headed on. But, I learned why it's called the Black Rock desert!
