Good Warm up
Did Cascade/Porter. Snow pack was well trodden and trail was easy. Felt old and out of shape so it was a good warm up hike for us. Cascade summit is bald and it was VERY windy. Almost lost a mitten. :-D Passed a young kid wearing a blue jeans and barely a jacket. Very windy cold and light snow.

From Highway 73
Hike with Kenneth for my first peak in the Northeast. Nice summit views and fun rock scrambling.

Nice short hike
Great views on the top but a fairly crowded trail on the way.

Second of two
I can see why people take their kids on this hike. It's not lengthy and the grade never gets punishingly steep, plus the summit is wide open exposed bedrock. The summit was in the clouds while I was there but the cooler temps and thirty mph winds alleviated the muggy heat in the lowlands. My last peak on a three day trip to the Dacks.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Originally thinking about the cascade to the slide route up but ice climbing when it's -6 out isn't the greatest idea. Better to keep moving with a nice quick hike to the summit on a clear day!

Cascade & Porter
Combined Cascade and Porter for a nice, easy afternoon hike of two ADK 46ers. Great views on this hike!!

Winter fun
After ice climbing across the street two day before time to hit the peak. Brought snowshoes and crampons but only ended up using micro spikes. Really windy and cold at top but it is January in the daks. Awesome end to weekend of adventure.

Cascade + Porter
Great experience. Supposedly good views, but our visibility was pretty poor. The added psyche from summiting Cascade made the trip to Porter feel like a breeze.

With Porter
Went up Porter, then Cascade. Probably the hardest wind I've felt in my life; it was hard to stand at the top. Fun hike, though quite muddy most of the way. A bit hazy, but pretty decent view off the summit.

Cascade attempt x2
Tried the falls without ropes summer 2013 couldn't quite make the peak. Tried a winter hike for my girlfriend birthday and just missed Porter after taking a fall.

Nice warm day
Beautiful view and only a short way up from the parking lot. A must do for beginner and advanced hikers.
With limited time to spend, Cascade was chosen for the views. No such luck: drizzling on the trail, horizontal rain on the summit with zero visibility and temperatures not far above freezing. Still a pleasant hike, and quite a gentle trail by ADK standards, even if showing some signs of over-use.

Quick Hike, Big Payoff
We did this right after Porter and it was great. Awesome 360 view and such a good payoff for what was such a quick trail to hike. Definitely great for a first time hiker who wants to see what all of the fuss is about!

Easy and fun
Hiked Cascade Mtn. 4098' as my first winter hiking experience. Cascade Mountain is by far the easiest Adirondack High Peak I have climbed so far. Started at the Cascade Pitchoff of of Rt. 73 with a friend who had never hiked before. The hike was an enjoyable one for both of us and we met some other friendly hikers on the summit and exchanged photos. This hike was particularly easy due to its low prominence, lack of recent snowfall, lack of serious scrambling and lack of significant steep icey sections for the time of year. While it wasn't warm, it wasn't very cold and there was almost no wind on the bald summit. We proceeded to hike Cascade's neighbor Porter Mountain after our summit, which was only about a mile away.
