SpectacularA truly spectacular view of Mt. Damavand.
About 2-3 months ago I read in the news that the most accurate measurement shows Mt. Damavand is 5611.2m high. Apparently the new measurements show all mountains in the world are shorter than what the old data have shown. I heard based on the new measurements, Mt. Everest is shorter than 8800m!

Re: SpectacularThank you for the vote and comment Kamran. I too read in the Farsi climbing sites that the correct elevation is 5610 (or maybe 11, I don't remember) m.
Everest being less than 8800? Wow!! I know years ago they used to say it was 8882 m, it then became 8848 m. Now apparently even less.

One of the best...views of Mount Damavand I've ever seen. Love the green hills in the foreground.

Re: One of the best...Thank you Marc. The view was wonderful. The previous day had been cloudy/snowy. We then woke up to this great view. Actually first thing in the morning, it was hazy, I took this shot at around 9 a.m. when we reached the summit. As the day went on, it became all hazy and then cloudy. By late afternoon, Damavand was lost again.
