Here comes the return of the
red!

Two-hundred-and-seventy-five-million years ago, GREAT sand dunes were formed around Sedona as the sands of quartz, feldspar and other eroded bits
of the Ancestral Rockies were blown in from the northeast across the
Hermit Shale Formation.
Near the end of the Age of the Amphibians, this part of the world was a
VAST, desolate desert, devoid of terrestrial life forms.
In appearance, this area probably resembled the present day Sahara Desert.
