I made a trip to Aconcagua this year as well. Your report brought back some great memories. Unfortunately I was one of those lying collapsed under the base of the Caneleta, before I returned to Berlin. There was absolutely no snow cover at all, when I went up the windy ridge. You were very lucky to have some snow, otherwise, you would have to endure the ashy sand below. Absolutely great report.

Re: Great Read!
Thanks for checking out the report. The snow did help a bunch although it was brutal for me coming down with one cramp-on on wind blown and icy crusted snow in some spots.
Thanks for sharing the report. I am attempting Aconcagua in January 09' and I was wondering if I could contact you either by email or phone about some trip logistics. It would be great to speak to somebody that has had some experience on the mountain. Thank you
A useful trip report, I really like the day by day layout. As a side note if you go with a flash drive media player (i use the zune 8 gig.) it doesn't have an altitude limit... anything with a harddrive technically quits working at 14,000 feet.

Re: Thanks
Thanks for checking out the TR and the tip on the Zune. I heard the new generations of Ipods would be okay at high altitude? Instead of listening to tunes, I did Sudoku and read above 17,000, which was considerably tougher!
Congrats on the summit & the report, it's always a pleasure to read one's like these. My only question is do you have any info on winter (May - July) ascents, by either the normal or polish routes? Cheers
Hi~ Nice to contact your report. It's wonderful.
I'm planning to go climb Mt.Aconcagua in December.
I'm packing my load and wondering whether there are portable oxygen can at Mart in Mendoza .
Airplane that I booked don't allow oxygen can with luggage.
Can I request your opinion?
Thank you
