Winter Snowshoe
For a Boealps outing, we had a nice trip up to the top of Arrowhead. We accessed the summit via the west ridge. The snow was a little crusty and required snowshoes most of the way, but the weather was great.

Via East Ridge
A solid snowshoeing trip. You can make this one as steep as you want, just pick your line to the ridge. Lots of wind loaded slopes along the ridge. Definitely best to stick along the right side of the ridge to stay safe on this one. Lots of clouds today but managed to get some blue skies and sunshine every now and then.

Happy New Years!
Dreary forest snowshoe slog to begin with, and the "scenic" railroad hike is less than pleasurable, but once you hit the ridge it's a joy. Great new years hike. Some of the best views I've seen in this area.

Nice Peak!
This peak was easy-going. Eric, Fletcher, Rob, Sergey, and I hiked up the snowy forested NE ridge slopes until reaching the east ridgetop at ~5000' elevation. From there, it looked like *a lot* of snowshoers and/or cross-country skiers had been following the ridgetop to the summit. The summit has great views, especially ofthe Chiwaukums, Jim Hill Mountain, and the Rock/Mastiff/Howard conglomerate. Highly recommended peak!
Snowshoed this with Bryan in low visibility. The E ridge itself was pretty fun but we encountered chunky, icy, deadfall-y snow in the trees that I wouldn't expect until late April, Welcome to the cascades I guess.

Tough Day Out
I went without snowshoes a good ways which made the trip very tiring for me. For me it was harder than climbing Mount Rainier.

Long Day!!!
Snow was deep, temps were well below freezing, snow was flying, summit was breezy... It was a great winter destination. Not sure if our ascent was the typical route up but we found an easier way descending the NE ridge.

Fun Winter Scramble
I've been up three times in winter on snowshoes. Each trip was via a different route. Finally did the usual NE ridge this past winter. It is the easiest route. All three were a lot of fun.

Bad Weather
It was totally clear on the drive in until we crossed over the pass and from then on it snowed for the rest of the trip. No views and a severe wind chill on the summit, but fun all the same. Here is the route recorded by my GPS. It is a kml file and should be viewed in Google Earth.

Route Climbed: NW Face Date Climbed: March 2004A nice spring day for skiing. Good corn on the upper slopes, but a bit sloppy down low. Had the mountain to ourselves on this particular day.
