Bouldering in Calico Hills

Bouldering in Calico Hills

It only costs $5.00 US dollars (per car) to get in the Red Rocks area of southern Nevada to do some serious bouldering. When I was there, a few van-loads of college students were taking advantage of the opportunity, and seizing the moment. Please remember that the gates close at 7 pm. If you click on the picture, you can make out several people climbing ON the "flesh-coloured" sandstone boulder in the lower left corner of the picture. (This boulder apparently took advantage of gravity and fell down into the wash from the sandstone hills above. As above, so below!) You can also see a patch of snow that was left from a March winter snowstorm in Southern Nevada. March 16, 2008

Re: cool

Yes, oxidation and mineral content, and
the chemical makeup of the soil before it
turned into STONE. Cheers from central AZ!
