bowen mountain south ridge  Sucess!

started at bowen gulch TH around 9:30am. made it to blue lake at 11:20am and decided what i would do then. it was either go up the grassy slopes from the basin like recommended, or try the south ridge. went straight up the slopes to the west of blue lake to point 12,084ft, and it was pretty loose rocks and grass. (also, didnt try this but maybe would have been better to go from the basin and then straight up to point 12,084 to the southwest from that angle. looked like better ground from a far but just as steep). form 12,084 i made my way across the south ridge to what felt like a class 3 but probably more of a difficult class 2. exposure wasnt bad and you could probably get around some scary moves if you really wanted to. from the sadle after the ridge, the climb turned into a steep class 2 to the summit. ended up taking the grassy slopes down like recommended. hella steep. had the mountian to myself the whole day besides the 3 bighorn sheep on the slopes on the way down. saw a few hunters down in bowen gulch thats it. 15 miles RT.
