Pine Mountain Trail
Glorious weather for February and a nice hike away from the crowds. Visited the overgrown summit of Pine Mountain and the nice scramble up the Pine Mtn Pinnacle.

The Roost and Pine
Half Day of peakbagging in the Santa Cruz Mtns - Santa Rosalia first, then over to Big Basin for Buzzards Roost and Pine Mtn. Highlight of the day was scrambling up and down the rocks at the radio site. Worth another visit sometime. TR is HERE.

The Roost
Paid me fee at Park HQ, parked the car across the road in the pkg. lot, and began the walk on the Redwood Trail. Several huge trees along the way, remindful of Muir Woods. A gentle walk with a dang good view at the top.

Pleasant hike after rainfall
This is an excellent hike that offers good views at the top & shade for most of the hike.

Foggy, no views
I hiked up to Buzzard's Roost today - it was quite foggy, so there we no views. I got a great video of the fog rolling by. It was still a nice hike.
Hiked up many times. Also bouldered a little on the rock.

climbed it as a side trip during a skyline-to-the-sea run
Started the STS at Waterman Gap at night, spent that night at an amazing clandestine/illegal site high on a ridge over the basin. the next day set up camp at Jay Camp and hiked buzzards roost to keep the blood pumping. fooled around on the summit until we sighted the rocks near the radar station not too far. bushwhacked through a waist high game trail we had to crawl through. fun little top rope climbs and scrambles on the rocks. great day

Buzzard's Roost and Pine Mountain
This is a really nice hike that I would like to do again. Tagged nearby Pine Mountain as well. The trail is nicely maintained until Buzzard's Roost, where it becomes kind of a bushwhack to get to the summit of Pine.
