Canaan Mountain

This is the view from the summit plateau of Canaan Mountain. The cliffs on the side of the mountain are 2,000 feet high

Incredible !

I wonder if anybody tries to rappel up that thing! Seems like there would be plenty of footholds. That's awesome, Melinda!!!

Re: Incredible !

Thanks Larry, I would be very impressed if you were able to rappel up the mountain. Most people prefer to rappel down ;-)

There are few people that come to this area and I doubt you would see anyone else. Not sure about the handholds, its looks quite difficult to me!

Ha, ha ! : )

I detect a bit of humor. I need to pick up a guide book on some of these areas. I wonder how many of the walls in southern Utah are actually climbed by rock climbers or rappeled down by rappelers. Angels Landing seems to be very popular. Take care!!!

Re: Ha, ha ! : )

Thank you Larry, I was just joking. Zion is one of the greatest places in the world for sandstone big wall climbing. You can often see climbers on the most popular routes if you know where to look. The only people I saw on Canaan Mountain were canyoneers. They were part of a guided group that were going down the Water Canyon slot which requires several rappels.
