I see you discovered a big problem with Google on rough terrain -- it is often based on a coarse digital elevation model, so the 3D view fails to reveal cliffs less than about 30 meters in height.
Your 5-photo-wide tables may wrap at a resolution of 1024 pixels (wide) or lower. I can still read all the text, it just looks a bit odd!
I did not mean to bad mouth Google Earth. I am certainly very thankful to it, but it certainly has its limitations. I know better resolutions are available should I ask and pay for them.
Thanks for alerting me to the 5 picture wide problem. Will probably fix that tonight.
Wow! Very nice pictures and report! I really feel inspired going to Iran again! I was a little surprised about the cold in the mountains though - when I was in Iran it was scorching everywhere except Damavand - the only place in Iran with suitable temperatures for a Swede;-)
Thank you for reading the report and commenting. I can see how in late spring/summer, it might become a little too hot for a Swede.
Yes take another trip to Iran if you can. Damavand is of course the absolute king and is in a class by itself, but there is a lot more to the Iranian Mountains than just Damavand.
Thank you for writing this detailed report . I think this one of the best in SP ! It can change the noniranians' view from Iran's nature .

Re: UnbelievableThank you for your vote and comments.
That is what you get when you put 4000 m peaks so close to a huge body of water.
