"So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life."

Grand CircleClimbed this one with Rory. We approached from Trail Canyon. When we hit the trail junction, we walked the ridge out and started to follow the cairns around. The route was more exposed than we expected, so we traversed below the cliffs to the next ridge over. From there it was an easy walk up. We descended to the springs and walked the road back to the trailhead.

FinallyWent up Trail Canyon, walked the saddle, then dropped down to the East and went back up West as soon as I could. I probably climbed back up a little early, since the climbs were more stout than expected. I bagged the next highest peak, also, then descended down Stanley B Springs canyon. Took the road back up to the car. GPS tracks
Again on 8/4/17. I was originally planning to do the traverse of the whole ridge, but it was raining heavily, and I wound up having to tag the peak and immediately retreat. GPS tracks
Again on 5/11/18. Ascended via Trail Canyon, bagged the next peak, traversed over to the arch, then dropped down into Trail Canyon. The ridge traverse was fine, with a fair bit of side-hilling. However, that descent into Trail Canyon is not fun. Super steep, terrible footing on bowling ball boulders, and really brushy. Probably won't repeat. GPS tracks
Again on 6/12/21 for Fathers Day. Went up Stanley B and came back down the same way GPS tracks

Afternoon hikeNice quick afternoon hike on a really warm, sunny fall day. Went up the old road to Stanley B. Springs, hiked up through the canyon, climbed up to the ridge and scrambled up to the saddle. Pretty slippery and a bit strenuous on the way up, but a great workout and a good hike to do if you're late getting out of the house. Whole trip was about 4 hours including a rest at the springs, some poking around near the old mine shafts, and a little more than a half an hour soaking in some sun on the peak. The 360 degree view of the Kyle Canyon area alone makes this hike worth it.

Via T/CVia Trail Canyon and over the ridgeline. Overcast skies and winter snow is still hanging in there during a dry year.

north to south traverseI hiked this one with Dick Wimmer and Howard Vandermeer. We hiked up Trail Canyon to the junction with the North Loop Trail, then bagged the peak, and then traversed south following Branch Whitney's instructions on his Hiking-LasVegas website.

Hail StormTagged the summit just in time to see some big clouds rolling in. I hurried back down and just as the hail really started to come down I found a nice rock overhang to chill out under. I waited for about two hours for the hail to abate, and got to observe a lightening strike about 50 yds away from my dry hiding spot. By the time the hail let up I was pretty cold and ran all the way back down the North Loop Trail to my car.

4 time, 3 routesFirst time, Nick and I capped off a traverse of Mummy with this descent; first from the N, over a class 3 route, to the next peak S, and then down over the talus to Trail Canyon. A few months later, the French contingent and the Canadian joined me for the trek up from Stanley B Springs. The third time, the Canadian and one Siberian joined me for a traverse from N to S, ending at the parking S of the springs. I then ran back to the car at Trail C, and picked up the others. Fourth was a solo loop up Fletcher Canyon to Raintree, back over the class 3, then down Stanley B.
If you go, be sure to sign the OPS register.

couple different variationsScrambled this one a few weeks ago. Loose, but nice. Did the standard east face scamble (from the Trail Cyn/N Loop junction) on the ascent, then descended more directly north (via a short, but spicy, traverse).
