"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

First and still favorite cragMade in the Shade. First ever outdoor climb, lead/top rope. Since then go back usually only on weekdays due to crowds. Gained lots of confidence, got a little cocky, got my ass handed to me due to not counting anchors/draws and falling. These falls and sunburns made me look to alpine. Few visits a year since 2001

Lots of FunClimbed about 70 routes here in the early and late 1990's, many of them more than once, "Dr. Tongue's 3D house of slave chicks" was my hardest lead.
A fun place to hang out and in the winter you can even find some ice to play on if you look for it.

Climbed here a few timesI liked the routes I climbed, but found the bottoms of the climbs were getting polished (and that was in 1998). Nice on a hot day.

Route Climbed: Many... Date Climbed: 2001-2005I am staring at Cougar Canyon as I type. It is right out my window to the north. We must have 1000+ rock routes around Canmore. 200 of them are back in here and I like Cougar Canyon as much as any other location. Depends where the sun is shining most regarding preference. If you are in town and need someone at the end of a rope, send me an email. Cheers.
