Just Messing Around
Hiked it twice now; both times we just hiked in a ways, stopped for lunch, then turned around. What makes this canyon fun is all the ledges you can climb up to and on, and the cool window-like formations that line the canyon's walls. Another way to make it even more of an adventure is to take the 4WD road all the way to the mouth of the canyon--it gets quite interesting. As our group went up, me and three friends, at one point, climbed to a rocky outcrop high above the canyon floor, then downclimbed a fun, steep gully--more of a fissure in the rock, really. Great canyon, would recommend it as a marvelous little hike!

Fun
With Rachael. Out and back from the behind the reef road through the narrows after doing Bell and Little Wildhorse in the morning. Some fun obstacles in the narrows.
We parked at the Chute Canyon TH, then walked the road over to Crack Canyon and descended. Only a couple little downclimbs (we were expecting more) and some really nice narrows. We couldn't really see an obvious route cross country over to Chute so we hiked the long way around through open country to get there and it was pretty hot and dry. Up through Chute was pretty nice and so it ended up being a pretty good loop hike.

What a Crack!
Camped at the mouth of Crack Canyon, then hiked it the next day. Absolutely breathtaking! I'll be back!

Did as a long loop with Chute. Loop is a long slog and neither canyon has much bang for the buck.

Nice Slot
Had Crack Canyon all to ourselves on a beautiful sunny day. The short subway portion at the beginning of the hike was great for pictures. Enjoyed the obstacles farther in the canyon as well.

Fun hike
This is a great slot canyon hike with a few easy obstacles. Very beautiful area. As of April 2009, I got a tiny passenger car (Toyota Yaris) to the trailhead with no issues. The roads here are maintained amazingly well for such a remote place.
This was my third trip through the canyon and I still love it. It's really an amazing place. There were a ton of people this time, but that was probably due in part to the holiday weekend. I also ran into the same group of ATVers that Sarah mentioned in the post below and was not not terribly pleased with them.
Did the out and back hike in the afternoon after hiking Little Wild Horse & Bell Canyons in the morning. The round trip took about 2 hours. The hardest part was trying to keep our cool as we waited for a group of ATVers who were trying to get millions of very young children down into the first narrow section. After that we had the rest of the canyon to ourselves. I liked this one just as much, if not more than, Little Wild Horse. On the hike out we ended up picking up all kinds of trash that the ATVers dropped.

Crack
I had a great time, but had to be carried most of the way for this one. I really liked playing in the sand.
March 2006.
Went down to one of the drop-offs, and turned back due to concerns about everyone's ability to get back up. Explored a notch in the canyon wall above the narrows, though, which was fun. The canyon was very scenic, but there was a loud youth group near us much of the time, another reason not to feel too bad about bailing early.

My First
This was my first slot canyon. The trail to the entrance was hairy, but we had 4wd's to get close. The hike was amazing. We had to chimney across one pothole, and reroute out of the canyon and then back in in another place, but made it up and back down with only a few of us getting wet.
I would definately revisit this canyon.

Chute to Crack
We used our three day weekend to to do some exploring of the Swell. After a hike of Bell and Wildhorse the previous day we tackled these two canyons. The crossover between the canyons is not obvious, and we ended up handlining down 30 ft to get into Crack Canyon. Crack is definitely the more interesting of the two canyons and we had almost decided to wade a section of very cold water, before we found an alternate route. The two canyons together make for a fun day with some route-finding challenges. Great adventure!
