Lots of snow in the basin covering the traverse to point 6400, so we decided instead to scramble up the southwest ridge up to to summit. Good day out, lots of fun, great views.
Bagged this summit as summit number 6/10 in a contest put on by Sahaptin Outfitters out of Cle Elum. Switchbacks from hell in hot weather while half the state was on fire made this a less than enjoyable day. Made sure to bag every possible summit so that there was no question.

Davis Peak
Another long, boring trail but good for training.

Sunny Nov Weather
Made a cirque-it of the upper basin, first headed to the old-lookout site, then traversed across to the 'true' summit. Proceeded SSW to the sub-summit P6490 before heading down the ridge toward P5988 and dropping down to regain the trail out. Mixed ice/snow on rocks made for some testy gully crossings on the ridge, but nothing too serious yet... another week or so and crampons would be required. Blue-bird skies, cold temps.
Ditto what they said. This was a pleasant hike and the weather kept it from being too hot.

See Dean's entry. Was hoping for more on this day of weird, humid weather, but alas it was not to be. However, there was no shortage of scenery except for the tops of the peaks hidden in the clouds. Happily, at least we stayed dry.

Davis Peak Trail
A nice hike of about 11 miles roundtrip with 4000 feet of elevation gain. Some of the trail went through the burn zone from last september. Of course, hiking it with SP'ers Eric and Bob made it fun and enjoyable.

On the way to Goat...We went to the lookout site (and nearby hilltop) and central summit of the Davis Peak massif, as part of a bigger hike to Goat Mountain.

Chilly Summer DayClimbed during a visit to Seattle. Mountains to the west were getting tons of rain, so we sought out mountains in Cle Elum for drier weather.
Much more green than my Wasatch mountains, but there were many areas that had been burned in the past. It was nice to use the wind shield.
