Desert Paintbrush

Desert Paintbrush

The occurrence of Desert Paintbrush (Castilleja chromosa) in the Salmon Canyon is interesting as it is the northern limit of the species, which generally is found in the deserts in the southwest and Great Basin. It is fairly common on the limestone rocks of John Day Mountain. June 2005
