Great hike. Snowshoes not necessary, but an ice axe would have been nice. Many holes to watch out for, so be careful. It will be fun to try this one in the summer.

Early a.m. hike to the summit. Start 9:30 a.m. and 2 hours to the top. Great fall color red's, orange, and gold. Partly cloudy around 60 degree's. Great views and all alone at the summit. However, hordes coming up as I was heading down.

Hardly any snow in the Cascades this year. Sunny and dry to 3000'. This is January? Turn around was 3 pm, and we just made it. This peak has incredible views, and there are alway people on it, even in a normal snow winter. Make the trip to Dickerman!
Trailhead (1800') had about 1 foot of snow, there were some snowshoe tracks that lead up to about 3500 feet where the previous hikers had turned around. We broke trail from here on, and it was slow and rough. There was about 2-4 feet of fresh snow to plow through, and once we got up to 4700' we were pretty much done after we realized that the meadows would most likely be very rough to get through since that area gets dumped on w/o all the tree coverage.

Awesome day, with clear skies and snow on the trail at about mile. The trail in the snow veers a little differently than the summer trail so we actually cut off some mileage. We had many minor posthole accidents, and many fun glissades down the steeper snow portions. We had lunch on top and enjoyed the sun for a good hour or so and gabbed with other hikers.

Route Climbed: near the trail route Date Climbed: March 03, 2003Beautiful views, snowshoes were hardly necessary due to dense snow conditions. Reminded me why I love the cascades so much, you could see forever.
