Interesting JuxtapositionInteresting juxtaposition of near and far elements in the photo--has me questioning my interpretation of the image scale. What lens? Well done, none the less!

Freekin' Awesome! This picture captures the heart of the cascades like no other picture I have seen. Great shot!
Also, Is that Sinister in the background and Dark peak on the right? Or am I just confused?

Re: Freekin' Awesome! That is Sinister on the left mostly hidden by the Chikamin Glacier, but the big peak on the left is the Dome massif. On the right is the so-called "One-eyed Bull". Look at that more-or-less triangular snow between the "ears" right up against the skyline - looks sorta like a white-headed bull with his snout pointing down and only a left eye!

wowI'll second all that -- the lighting, the foreground grass as a nice touch, the overall appearance like a painting.
Hope you'll share the photographer's tricks behind this one!

Outrageous!Actually, it's not at all outrageous - it just very beautifully portrays our fantastic Washington treasures. Few photos can do them justice - but this one comes as close as you can get! This is not at all surreal - it's as real as it gets! Congrats on the POTD (should be POTW), and I hope you have tons more where this came from! -Bob

Re: Outrageous! This pic is now the feature photo on the Dome Peak page.

Re: Outrageous!Wow... what else can I say but thanks! The photo really boils down to good light and being surrounded by unsurpassed natural beauty. I wish I could say it was a result of photographic brilliance, but I took it with an old Canon Powershot A300 (3.2 mp, no optical zoom). Nothing has been doctored or altered in the photo.
Thanks again for everyone's comments!!
