2nd HP in same day  Sucess!

State HP #31, and the second on this day. We made the loooong 6-7 hour drive from Woodall in MS earlier in the day. Driskill was also uneventful, and nothing more than a little hike through the woods to the "summit"!

whirlwind trip through the south  Sucess!

I had a long day in Arkansas, and made Driskill Mountain at sunset. This hike was the first one to freak me out, as I kept hearing noises in the woods and I was alone. Did it at dark, and literally ran in and back out. Apparently it had rained earlier in the day, so the trail was a little muddy. Never so glad to have completed a high point and to get the heck out of Dodge...

Rainy day on the summit.  Sucess!

Quite a bit of rain, and some sun too! Excellent information on Summit Post, and a great example of private land owners working with hikers to allow public access! A special thanks to the landowners for access, please respect their privacy and property to continue to allow access for future generations!

On a road trip from FL to NV we swung by and knocked out this High point in the middle of the night. It was fun!

Bringing Youth to the Game, Pt. II  Sucess!

After summiting Signal Hill - Mt. Magazine the previous day, I took only four of our high school youth on this other short walk in the woods. Two high school students + my adult chaperone were not feeling at the top of their game.

Even the very unseasoned 15-year-old hiker who was caked in make-up and wore flip-flops (and is terrified of "all bugs") seemed to enjoy herself. Because we left the other three from our group in the van, we didn't dally. We were up and back within 30 minutes. It felt great to tag SHP #23.

Signs along a descent little path on private property. Well maintained highpoint area. It is about the best it could be, considering all factors.

Kim & Charlie's grand adventure  Sucess!

2 day/ 2 "summit" trip with my wife Kim. Summit gained via the customary route from the Zion trail head. Battled glacial runoff (Melting ice), AMS (slight headache), and nearly had to abort the summit bid D/T surprise storm moving in (not really, it just sounds good). We pressed on and persevered. Summit achieved at exactly 1200 CST.
Trail was muddy but manageable D/T gravel and pine needles. It is well maintained and marked. Great Thanks to the landowners who keep this open and developed!

ST HP #15  Sucess!

Sick trip down south to do Driskill. The weather was very pleasant and a little humid. We bagged the "False Mountain" as well as the highpoint. Great little outing in a rural setting.

Route Climbed: Main Trail  Sucess!

Go figure, climbed this on the hottest day of the year, I think. It was around 104 with a heat index near 110. A Camelback was essential! This was highpoint #4 for me.
