Interesting

Ice axes over rock...an interesting dry tooling climb.

Re: Interesting

Crack climbing with ice tools and crampons is fun ! I was amazed at what small holds crampons can be used on ...

However the rock in this canyon is hard and abrasive - it seemed to wear down metal quickly. Afterwards I picked up a cheap pair of tools to use solely for mixed climbing.

Is this the same place...

...that I practiced dry-tooling with Scott when I ran into you guys last year? It looks like it's exactly the same spot -- on the far left had side of the falls.

Re: Is this the same place...

I remember y'all practicing on the far left of Chouinard, and thinking how cool that was. I should try it over there.

But this spot is actually on the far left side of the Main wall, below the ramp where Spiral Staircase begins. It was a lot of fun.

Got it! I can hardly remember. Now that I think about it, maybe it was 2004 when I saw you guys up there. Early onset senility! ;^)

Re: Is this the same place...

No worries, I mentally transposed "last season" onto "last year" ... and if you are going senile at your young age, then I am in serious trouble :)
