East Ridge of Ben Lui in winter

East Ridge of Ben Lui in winter

Ben Lui as seen from the approach track of Cononish farm in late January 2010. We climbed the East Ridge (Scottish Grade I in winter) which is the left skyline in the picture. The route stays as close to the ridge edge as possible. Photo: Penelope May.

Re Scotland winters

Jim
We saw very few trees in the area. Around Ben Lui, there are several pine tree plantations, but on the slopes, there is just frozen grass and snow. We thought the place was beautiful, it felt very remote just a few (3-5) miles from the road. My first time in Scotland and I loved the place and the climbs. Thanks for your comments. Alois.
