Took the Cathedral trail, stayed left where it split at the climbers junction, followed this to the trails end at Budd Lake, a steep and sandy slope let to the saddle between Echo Peaks and Echo Ridge, from there a use trail led most of the way thru the low brush, the final bit was class 2/3 rocks and was enjoyable. Awesome views from the summit, and a highly enjoyable hike.

From Echo Peaks
After hitting what I could of the Echo Peaks, went up the west side for some more cool views (especially of Matthes edge on). Even in the low snow year, there were still some decent snowfields up high, and some OK glissading down one of the slopes on the NW side (heading towards Cathedral).

Fun Traverse
On route from Echo Peaks to Cockscomb and Unicorn. Got to Cockscomb through a small 4th class notch off the south side.

Echo Ridge
Easy scramble from Echo Peaks, did the cutoff exit to the south between the two high points instead of the Class 4 scramble over the top. Probably should have tried it but was a little pressed for time on the Traverse.
An enjoyable scramble along the ridge from Echo Peaks, the view of Matthes alone is worth the extra effort from Echo Peaks (and yes, that little difference in angle makes quite the difference!)
back in 2010 on a day off from work..got some echo peaks, echo ridge, cockscomb and unicorn that day

Warm-up day
Very enjoyable day out with Glenn, the first of two warm-up days before Mt. Clarence King: Tresidder, Columbia Finger, Echo Peaks #3 and #1, Echo Ridge, and Cockscomb.
Kind of a minor peak, but it has some spectacular views of Matthes Crest from the summit all the same.

from Echo Peaks
Scrambled up the west side after climbing a few of the Echo Peaks. Fantastic views from the top of all of Yosemite and much of the northern high Sierra. For the effort, well worth the trip.
