Wind felt amazing
As a detour on the way down from Cucamonga Peak. Etiwanda has little in the way of tree cover. The winds were much like on Baldy, and brought a great chill with it. Very few people on Etiwanda: I saw perhaps 5 total, compared to the dozens or hundred on the main trail up and down Cucamonga.
Got to Icehouse Canyon parking lot around 6:40AM and got one of the last parking spots on the side of the road near the parking lot. Last time I tried to go to Etiwanda, I somehow lost the trail when I came down from Cucamonga. Had no problem finding and keeping the trail this time all the way to Etiwanda. Had the summit to myself for a few minutes then headed down. 3 hours up, 3 hours down.

From Joe Elliot
Took the trail out of Joe Elliot Campground. FYI, it was class 1 all the way to the summit. Also, no Adventure Pass needed for parking at Joe Elliot. There are no services at all there, no water, no toilets, no tables, just camping spots.

Icehouse Canyon
Great combo hike of Etiwanda and Cucamonga Peaks, but it was mostly in the clouds. Many of the trees were covered with ice though and that was a beautiful sight.

After tagging Cucamonga, we sat on a windy Etiwanda; beautiful rock. Made quick time there and back to saddle for Big Horn even with the cold wind.

From Ice House to Cucamonga and then off to Etiwanda. Third time up Cucamonga and my first time up Etiwanda. A little over 6 hours car to car and I finally got to see some Bighorn Sheep! The nicest weather I could ever ask for in August.

Finally
Hiked up Ice House Canyon. First went to Cucamonga then just followed the ridgeline down and picked up the Joe Elliot Trail for a bit then on up to the summit of Etiwanda. Nice little peak with great views. Pretty hot day.
Only once did I go over from Cucamonga Peak and sit on top of the great little summit of Etiwanda, it was well worth it.

From Cucamonga
Up Falling Rock Canyon to Sugarloaf, over to Ontario, Bighorn, and Cucamonga, then to Etiwanda on the ridge. Came back up the ridge to near the summit of Cucamonga, down to Bighorn-Cucamonga saddle, over to Icehouse Canyon saddle, and down Icehouse Canyon trail. 9 hours total. Pretty cold and windy all day; loved it.
