February 11th, 2005 - The Alcove climbing area of Ouray Ice Park, seen from the Upper Bridge. The upper parts of this area can be reached by walking down the canyon from The School Room, but to reach the lower parts one must rappell from above.

Pick 'O the Vic

I believe this area is called Pick O' the Vic, if it's the one between the Lead Only Area and the Schoolroom.



Saturday night my partner rapped down and climbed up one of these, with me belaying from the top as darkness fell. It was probably near Beserker, one of the WI4's, but since he did it by headlamp we weren't really sure ... he said it was a pretty spooky experience down at the bottom of the gorge in the dark.
