Gannett Peak, Wyoming

Gannett Peak, The Highest Peak in Wyoming! The snow bridge over the Gooseneck Glacier's bergshrund melted out, two weeks before we got there. We needed more technical climbing gear than we had (either rock or ice) to solve this puzzle. -August 2007 I've been told that very few actually summit on the first try. Your chances are better if you do this climb in the early summer. (read: June) There will be more snow to help you. Seriously. Don't underestimate this one. Depending on the approach you take, it is a 3 day hoof just to get to it. So, you arrive tired and foot sore, and you haven't even climbed it yet. ;-)

Nice picture..

I can't believe how little snow was up there. I bet the conditions were rather dodgy.

Re: Nice picture..

Yes, it was - better to hike in June or July.
