Mt Grinnell route

You are not the first to end up cliffed out on 8479 trying to take the ridge to Mt Grinnell! If my memory is correct, you have to drop to lower ledges on the right (southeast?) of the ridge to bypass 8479 before getting back on the ridge to the summit of Grinnell

Re: Mt Grinnell route

Jim...you are exactly correct. We went back and successfully summitted Mount Grinnell on the 13th of September.

Re: Mt Grinnell route

Congrats on your successful summit. You must be getting very fit hiking up from the Loop!

Re: Mt Grinnell route

Yes I have done that trail three times this year. It is never an enjoyable trail for me at least. I really did not want to go up from The Loop but my climbing buddy did. The last time we did the trip to the overlook we used the Highline Climbers' Trail above the Weeping Wall...it is much better.

Re: Mt Grinnell route

I agree. seems more direct and much more efficient due to the ups/downs and circuitous nature of the trail to Granite Park chalet. Plus lower start point!
