"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

McKitterick/Pine SpringsSuch an amazing place. I've done multiple hikes, scrambles, on and off trail trekking. Seen a herd of desert bighorn & was even involved in a SAR operation. The staff is wonderful and I love how this place is off the beaten path.
Great place for isolation and solitude.

Where it all began..Although my intro into the mountain adventures began a bit later in life (late 30's), it has been a true blessing ever since. This was the first peak/adventure (Guadalupe Peak) that I experienced, and have been completely addicted ever since. Being in my home state, I look forward to returning in the future.

left over from the Ice AgeIt's awesome to be able to go up to the bowl and see Douglas fir and Ponderosa pine. This place is definitely a sky island and the peaks are fun to climb as well. my first trip was in 2010

Been Here Several TimesFinally got to hike up Guadalupe Peak, but it was a cloudy, rainy day. Coming from the east, these mountains stay the same size on the horizon for a very long time.
