The sun radiates down through cloud layers onto the towering granite spires of Bugaboo Provincial Park. On this warm July afternoon in 2008 Fred Beckey prepares his harness for a climb. Sixty summers have past here since he made the first ascent in 1948 of the North Face of Pigeon Spire which peaks through the Bug Snowpatch col in the distance.
