Your opening paragraph piqued my interest so I read up a bit on the massacre. This Eugene Baker wasn't the best fellow. This Wiki Page says he was a known alcoholic. He apparently attacked Heavy Runner's camp even though he was told he had the wrong camp.
Also, the wiki page says Baker was a major. The man isn't worth the promotion to colonel in your writing.
I think at the very least you should link to the wiki page. At most you could paraphrase it in your Overview.
Sometimes references to rank are made for the rank when an officer or soldier retired. Baker may have been a colonel at his retirement but a major during the massacre.

ThanksI got my information from a page linked from the park service on names in Glacier. I will take a look at your link and make changes.
Edit: Have changed site to reflect newly gathered information.
