Bull Snake IN Beaver Creek

Bull Snake IN Beaver Creek

This is what happened to the Bull Snake. It took to the water, and I don't blame it. In fact, the method to its madness was to cool down in the 90+ degree (F) heat. Taken approximately one mile from the Bell Trail TH, along the Beaver Creek waterway of central Arizona. Yes, it made it to the other side. A very cute specimen of a snake. Notice how it's careful to keep its (cute) little head above water when it swims. :) June 11, 2008

Re: Ciao Larry,

Salud, Marco! I would make a poor
engineer, because I find it difficult
to make out distances. This is
definately a male, and can reach
lengths of 6 feet or 1.83 meters.

Yes, they are not a venomous snake.
In Utah, I have seen them MIMIC a
venomous snake by standing up and
vibrating their tail. They can also
make a hissing sound, like air being
released from a tire. Grazie, Marco!

Re: Ciao Larry,

Yes, you are exactly right. Like in
the movie, 'Alien vs Predator!'

There is a lot for snakes to eat in
Arizona. Several species of lizards,
and they also eat other snakes; like
in the movie "The Ten Commandments."

This snake was drinking water from
the stream when I first came upon it.
An excellent swimmer, but always keeping
its head above water, as all land snakes
do. It really is a remarkable creature.
ciao, Larry
