Dusk at Cypress Mountain

Dusk at Cypress Mountain

I'm feeling "on the verge" of getting some up-dated climbing beta on this area, which lies inside central AZ's Stewart Pocket of the Tonto National Forest. Shown is 4,953' East Tower Rock on the ridge in the foreground, with 5,727' Cypress Mountain on the left and 5,768' Cypress Ridge (highpoint) to the right. The dry creek bed is called Stewart Creek. During the climbing season in Autumn, the creek is usually running, and must be crossed in order to climb these peaks. I'm expecting a GOOD (summer) monsoon season for central Arizona, so it's possible this creek could be running at any time. When it does, I'll try to catch up to it so I can post another picture! :) Did I say that overnight camping in this area is FREE? Of course, there's a chance your sleeping partner could very well become ... a Diamond-backed Rattlesnake. I also sighted a vast number of Javelinas in this area. June 8, 2008

I'll wait

to see the photo of this creek flowing full of life with a good stormy cloudy sky above the peaks in the distance!

My friend Marco! Bravo!! Yes, all Sp-members
(worldwide) must exercise a fair amount of
patience with me. It would be nice to see some gushing & gurgling WATER out there for a change. Just because I live in AZ, doesn't mean I don't like water. WATER is my LIFE!
