Khewra is the largest salt mine in the world (area wise) with 1290 RM of tunnels and is the second biggest producer of rock salt in the world, located at 160 kilometres from Islamabad and 260 kilometres from Lahore Pakistan.

When I was growing

up in North America, "rock salt" was a very
valuable commodity to process. My friends and
neighbors used it to apply to their walkways
and driveways in order to "melt through" the
accumulation of slippery snow and ice.

I don't use it here in Arizona, however.
