Lake Roberts, located in the Upper Mimbres Valley, Gila National Forest, New Mexico. At capacity, Lake Roberts has a surface area of 69 acres and drains a watershed of about 87 square miles of mostly steep and mountainous country. The lake is named in memory of Austin A. Roberts, a Dept. of Game and Fish pilot who perished in a 1960 airplane crash while dropping bales of hay to a herd of antelope stranded in deep snow. Photo taken 6/23/07.
