Congratulations on a well-written, detailed account of how things can go wrong on a mountain expedition and your achievement of eventual success! Your account of the lack of acclimatization & the never-ending last pitches below the summit almost mirrors my experience in climbing the 3 Monts in 1998 (details in my trip Report at SP). Anh was indeed lucky to have survived unscathed the early manifestations of high altitude brain edema.
BTW, your pictures are superb especially the one of the sunset on Mt Blanc and the Bossons glacier.
The photo named "Sunset from the Refuge des Cosmiques" it's simply amazing. I was in Mont Blanc in the beginning of August and the photos from the summit are so familiar to me...
Great job!
I particularly like the first Chapter - the inspiration of the early years. Then the little voice in ones head - the part that drives and motivates you to be the most you can. Then there is the other part which may try to stop you. Obviously, the better part of you won. Great pictures too.
Thanks for this well-written report because now I know what I missed. I attempted the same route on June 25. I left Cosmiques at 2 am and made Tacul at around 4, just in time to see a huge thunderhead coming from Geneve. That was the end of my trip. In order to do this or any big mountain, one has to have a flexible schedule.
