a little escape during on-call weekend  Sucess!

Wasn't sure where the trail started, so I walked up the Pine Martin maintenance road and scrambled up the ridge to the north of the skyliners lift, really a pretty enjoyable route with a little bouldering and minimal scree. Found the trail once I reached the summit and used it to descend, WAY to many switchbacks! Glad I didnt come up that way, skyliner ridge highly recommended.

Sweet and Short  Sucess!

Nice short hike. Did this just after climbing Adams and St. Helens, so it was a nice break in long hikes. Not much for views with the weather. Awfully windy up top but was fun to explore the summit area.

rest day  Sucess!

rather ugly trail, but an easy hike, good choice for a day that also saw six hours of car travel. Wished we'd brought axes, could still have glissaded about half way down.

Via the trail  Sucess!

Natreb and I decided to climb this peak before heading out of the Three Sisters Wilderness. Nice peak with nice views.

West Village Parking Lot  Sucess!

Slow all the way up. Left late in the day (2:00), still enough time to at 4:30. Awesome views of the Sisters, but not much time to enjoy the view. Hour long glissade down.

Chairlift  Sucess!

Great skiing, but I hardly can count it as a "summit".

Ski Slopes  Sucess!

I was glad I brought crampons and ax as it was pretty icy up top. Had the mountain to myself on a beautiful day.

Nice weather  Sucess!

My original plan was to enjoy the storm on some small peaks in the 3 sisters wilderness but the road was closed so I hiked up Bachelor. Heavy snow and strong winds made it a pretty fun workout.

from parking lot  Sucess!

Parked at the lot by the Pine Marten lift, went up service roads to the base of the summit lift and then found the trail to the summit. Pretty fun hike with great views. The way I went was about 3 miles each way with 2800 feet of gain total. Beautiful day, sunny and fairly warm with a nice breeze on the summit. Just under 2 hours up, an hour back down.

Mulitple  Sucess!

19 Jun 2009 - Northwest Ridge
No skis this time, but there was good snow coverage from top to bottom. Another 1hr40min jaunt up.

6 Apr 2007 - Northwest Ridge
Climbed up from West Village under the Red Chair to the Northwest Ridge. Reached the summit in 1hr40min. Skied Chute 4 down the Cirque, then skied the lifts the rest of the day. Backside, Cirque, and NW Express had decent conditions, everything else was grabby slop.

Cheated with the Chair  Sucess!

Skiing was the priority for the day so I cheated by using the Summit Chair and walked the five minutes to the top with the skis. I did not see a cloud nearby all day long and had absolutely spectacular views of all the high Oregon mountains, including Hood to the north. There was wind blown fresh powder off all sides of the summit and it was a wonderful first and possibly last ski day of the year for me.

snowshoe winter grunt  Sucess!

snowshoed up after 3 ft of fresh snow and a cold bivy the night before. white-out conditions and windy, I was allowed to take the lift back down.

From the parking lot  Sucess!

I had to bail on Mt. Hood earlier in the morning because of tendonitis in my left knee, but this one was easy enough that I was compelled to climb it when Bob and Rick headed here. (Of course, my knee was then too trashed after this to climb anything for the next two days. It took 2-3 months to heal).

Took the chair up with my grandma. I spent the summer with my grandparents in Bend, went many places. This my first peak over 9000 feet. Thanks grandma!

I hiked this one with my daughter several years ago. The next day I took the ski lift to the top with my wife. Great views.
