Franconia ridge double traverse
Up Flume, over Liberty, little Haystack, Lincoln, Lafayette, back to Lincoln, little Haystack, back to the top of Liberty, then back to the car. Beautiful day, but long.
Camped @ Liberty Springs for a weekend and hit this peak several times.

Third 4000-footer
Hiked this peak twice now; once as a loop up the Flume Slide on Mt. Flume, over both Mt. flume and Mt. Liberty and down the Liberty Springs trail, and the second time as a "there-and-back" starting from the flume slide and turning around at Mt. Lafayette. Both times had cloudy weather and limited views, but nonetheless a very rewarding climb. Looking forward to doing this as my first 4000-footer winter hike in a few months!

1st Winter Ascent
Skies were partly cloudy and temperatures were above 0 C most of the day, pretty balmy for January in the Whites. Even above treeline, winds were moderate and temperatures weren't bad at all. Very enjoyable climb up Liberty Springs trail.

liberty and flume
Up Liberty springs there and back to Flume...
Muddy and messy...and completely socked in...sigh!
Approached vis Flume Slide trail. It was a bit dicey since there was some black ice along the slide. Otherwise, a vibrant day with great sunny views.

Best day all season
After slogging our way up the Flume Slide we dragged ourselves over to Liberty. Views of Washington, Lincoln and Cannon were excellent on this clear, calm, warm winter day. It was a new experience to be up in the Whites without 60mph winds, total whiteout, and sub-zero temps! Perfect day all around.

From Lafayette & Lincoln
Views from Liberty were as amazing as any we'd had all day. Gorgeous day with sunshine and the winds had lightened some to make it chilly, but bearable. Made the decision to hit Flume as well and headed there after a quick break. Neat hike!

The Summit Looked Like A 3D Jigsaw Puzzle
We were going to try Flume Slide, but it was rainy. The Liberty Springs trail was quite enough though. A beautiful autumn day.

Fun
Hiked over from Flume and then down the trail back to the parking lot from there. I enjoyed the area just below the summit where the firs are shorter and the ground is moss-covered.

Mount Liberty
Climbed with Flume via the Liberty Spring Trail from Franconia Notch. A moderate ascent to trail crest and then only a short hike to Liberty's amazing hyperbolic summit. Great views all around. Many small alpine plants were to be seen on Liberty's summit on this bluebird July day.

Rain, Rain go Away
Got up to the hut, with an infant in tow. No one was happy! It was cold and raining pretty hard. Hung out in the hut, for too long, then turned around. (Climbed it succesfully 6 yrs prior on a gorgeous day.)
