Mellow hike at first because the mountain was in the clouds and we couldn't see it the whole time going up. Neat hike on trail and beautiful phenomen on the summit as we could finally see the top of Washington hanging over the clouds before they closed in again until we got on the summit cone of Washington. My very first and favorite 4,000er.

Absolutely gorgeous day. The summit broke out of the clouds just as we arrived and Mt. Washington's summit was hanging above the clouds to the north. Great views! Summitted with my girlfriend Nicolle and her sister Kami. This was their first White Mountains 4000er. This was my second summit of Monroe and it is definitely one of my favorites. Awesome day!

The short but sharp drop down to the Lakes of the Clouds Hut made for some of the best views of a long and scenic day.

Ahhh, Mt. Monroe. Was once forced to set up camp during a 90mph snowstorm near the summit. Word of advice: don't forget a compass when hiking the Presi's!

Blynn and I climbed Monroe and "Little Monroe" on our descent from the Lakes of the Clouds Hut. Our run of near perfect weather continued. There were high clouds with moderate wind, but the view from the top was still fairly uncompromised.

Blynn and I Climbed to the Washington-Monroe saddle via the "Ammi" and after dinner at the Lakes of the Clouds Hut, I climbed to the Monroe Summit to view a fabulous sunset --clear skies and virtually no wind!! While on top I saw the famous Mt. Washington "Summit Fox" hunting for his dinner. The twilight view of the Oakes Gulf was breathtaking.

A fun little journey for the day after Washington. Was our excuse to cover all of the trails on the Eastern side of Washington.

I'm surprised this is a summit. I got lost being the first one to break trail in the morning. Wound up postholing through avy debris before seeing skiers on the correct route heading up. I was too tired for Washington, my intended summit, so took a stroll over to this nub and watched all the skiers and glissaders. Nice day and a C130 plane buzzed overhead. That hut in between Wash and Monroe sure is big.

This area combined with sections of the AT I've been on in NY and NJ have me really yearning to do the AT hike some year...

Nice! A compact little, high-altitude peak within easy saunter distance of Lakes of the Clouds hut. A good after-dinner peak.

Stood on this summit a few times, most notably as part of the Jefferson, Clay, Washington, Monroe traverse. Attepted a March traverse of Boott Spur, Monroe, and Washington but got stopped by the difficulty of breaking trail in deep snow on Boott Spur.

I started a little after 9 in the morning with the main goal being Mt. Washington's summit. We reached the Lake of Clouds hut with wonderful weather and then started up Mt. Monroe. We reached the summit at around 11:30. It was great and I enjoyed the summit of Mount Monroe a lot more than any peak I've ever climbed because when we were there, no one else was on top, and the views were magnificent. It was way better than the hustle and bustle of Mt. Washington not to take anything away from the highest peak in the northeast. It was a wonderful trip and we then reached the summit of Mt. Washington around 1:15. we descended via the Gulfside/Jewell Trail and arrived at the base station at around 5. It was one of my favorite trips by far of any I've done and it's a must for anyone in New England.

Fantastic hike hike up to Lake of the Clouds. We could see all the way to Portland Maine and Casco Bay. I remember a big azalea sprawling across the path.
