Standard Trail
Beautiful day and great views from the summit. Trail still had snow after the halfway point. Lots of hikers.

Perfect Day
The first nice sunny day of the year was certainly the perfect occasion for a hike up Mt. Pilchuck. Gliders flew in the updrafts and the views were excellent. Still a lot of snow from about 4000 feet upwards.

2nd time
Dennis Poulin and I went up and enjoyed a beautiful day. Lots of snow and lots of people that were hiking in tennis shoes (wet feet). Great views on the summit due to the clarity of the air.
done it a couple times with kids and without.
Everett Mountain Rescue just installed 'wrong way' signs off the trail to discourage hikers from getting sucked down Kelly creek drainage. http://everettmountainrescue.org/Home/tabid/149/Default.aspx

Okay, there we go
After a few days of warmer temps, the ice softened up and the ascent was a lot easier. Saw a couple of solo gents, a skier, and a fellow with his enormous dog (Gunnar, the half-Lab, half-short haired collie), but they were it. Hung out in the lookout for lunch and tea, did some trash collecting, and headed down. Socked in all day until just above 4000' when we dropped below the cloud layer and could see the whole Sound and up into Canada. Lovely way to spend my birthday!

Rain down below, snow up top
Headed up in pouring rain that turned to driving snow as we got higher. We were the only car in the lot, cuz everyone else was smart and stayed out of the weather. We, however, love weather and got a lot of it. Lots of new, dryish snow up past 4000ft; no slide danger, but it's slick on top of the consolidated layer. Too icy at the final ridge to continue to the lookout, so we turned back with plans to try again on Monday (with crampons). Lovely day despite the ugly (fun!) spring conditions.

Lots of spring snow
Lots of deep soft snow, snowshoes highly recommended. Beautiful, clear, warm day. 3rd time up this winter. Great climb.

Nice family outing
I hiked up to this summit with my little brother (back when he was smaller than me) and my parents. It was a fun outing except that I had to give my little bro some plastic bags for socks (there was lots of snow up top) as he was wearning sneakers. Oh, memories.
Close to Home, good, easy after work hike... Amazing views for such an easy hike if your in average shape... Be prepared for Hordes of people of all walks of life...

Beautiful Day
Climbed on an awesome clear winter day with hard/icy snow conditions. The beginning of the trail was a frozen stream and I fell pretty hard a couple times on the way back down. Used crampons and axes higher up on the mountain. Following the summit ridge was a bit nerve-wracking being a rookie but very rewarding in the end.
Started climbing Pilchuck in 1970. I like it best in the spring, as soon as you can get most of the way up the road. Go right up the old ski run. Great sliding on the way back down. Just be careful of the clifs below Little Pilchuck. Too many people get lost up there. If you haven't been there on a clear day, go back. A great 360 degree view and so close to the city.

Rainy July Day on Pilchuck
Rained the whole way, very little snow on the ground though. The lookout was very cold – drafty – despite my being dry. Had the place to myself though. However my battery was dead when I got back to the car.

Pilchuck
Climbed/hiked the trail with two good friends wanting to prepare for Baker. Mostly clouds, but no rain. Nice day in the mountains just the same. Very few people on the trail.

Nice day
The snow began at 4100' and then was solid at 4400'. A nice hike to the lookout on a very nice day. Quite a change from the desert peaks of Utah and Nevada that I've been doing a lot of lately.

A Cascades shot in the arm
First car there at 6:30am on a Saturday morning. We had the summit to ourselves. Note: Pilchuck is apparently not the Si of Everett. This hike packed fun snow travel, great views, some unexpected solitude, and even a short but interesting scramble all into just a few hours car to car.
We started out a bit later in the afternoon then planned, around 4pm, but we were still able to make it to the peak and back to our car before it was too dark. We had nice weather and a gorgeous view of the surrounding landscape. It was our last "hoorah" before I left for college.
