First 14'er
Made the climb with my son, up and back in one day! Switchbacks still covered in snow and ice so we climbed via the snowfield and up the main chute. We had the summit to ourselves!!!

Nice climb, but watch out for rockfall. I got a nice shiner out of it.
a nice winter solo. started the climb 4:45 april 10. boogied pretty much all the way to upper boy scout lake with snowshoes, threw on crampons, got the summit around 1, jammed back down, made it to my car by 5. didn't find a log book on the summit which i thought weird

Success on 2nd attempt - Mountaineers Route!
Was snowed off summit during visit last year. This time - weather was perfect! Clear skies and not too cold entire trip.
Nearly talked myself into bailing just below the notch (legs were done..) but after taking a lunch-break - decided to push on to the summit... Soooooo glad I did!
Inpiration for all of us. My goal as well. Cheers many times over!

HSM trail attempt
Completed a 5 day backpacking trip. Started at Horseshoe Meadows and went to Soldier Lake, Crabtree Meadows, above Guitar Lake, and then up Whitney and down after spending the night at Trail Camp. Soldier Lake was gorgeous. Trip of a lifetime!

Day Hike
First time hiking Whitney was a day hike. Acclimated at the portal for a day with a light hike up to Lone Pine Lake. Visit the lake on your way up - absolutely beautiful! Six in our group and we all made it! Beat the thunderstorms to the summit. A great experience, but 22 miles feels really long for a day hike on the way back.

Late Spring 2002 - Didn't take any time to acclimate and my brother got real sick at Upper Boyscout. Dayhiked to Iceberg to scout out route for a later attempt.
Late Spring 2003 - Poor snow conditions. Postholing to our waists between Lower and Upper Boyscout.
It is nice from Consultation Lake on. Great views and your rarely alone.

trail hike with bivy
Started up at night, did a brief cold bivy in my jacket (older and smarter now), then continued up trail to summit. Jet flyover was unnerving.

Mountaineer’s Route
It was extremely windy morning. Some groups have returned at 10am without reaching the summit. We took a late start which unexpectedly was the right thing to do. Got to the summit by 2pm and return to base camp around 4pm

Picture Perfect
First 14'er. Big snow year as the switchbacks were still covered in snow on Father's Day. Went up snow chute and it was crystal clear day with almost no wind and no clouds. Had summit by ourselves for about 30 minutes. Couldn't have been better! 14 hours RT.
