Nice hike up to the lake viewpoint before it steepens for the last push up. Was about 2/3rds of the way up when I heard fighter jets approaching. Turned around just in time to spot them. The lead plane flew between Lichtenberg and McCausland below the summit turning 90 degrees and buzzing the eastern flank of the mountain. Felt like I could reach out and touch the plane. An amazing top gun moment. Wish I had the camera ready. Fall color going up was quite impressive, especially the deep reds highlighted by the sun. From the summit, the views north to Glacier Peak were as good as it gets.

McCausland
If you like solitude, this is not the place to find it. Recommend doing this one on a weekday.

Very Easy
Every youth in the Pacific Northwest should be required to climb this mountain with their father once in their lifetime.

Cool hike
With Flanders on an off day on our trip. Easy hike with big payoff views and interesting summit register. Drooling over Lichtenberg.

Excellent shorter summit
It was a hot day so we got this summit and then we swan in Lake Vahalla afterwords.

Also summitted as the "Invisible Chaperone" on 10/16/2010... lots of snow with incredible views... the snow pack was tight so we only needed snowshoes for a small portion... Trax would have been sufficient

McCausland
This is a nice hike which had snow including a large patch on the summit ridge. I donated some of my blood to mosquitoes which were relentless. It was worth it for the views of Glacier Peak and surrounding area.

Southeast slope
Climbed in combination with Lichtenberg. Fun climb!
Nicely deceptive- a gentle climb at first that gets steeper and steeper, before finally cresting a ridge and leveling out. The views are amazing in all directions, but especially to the north!
