I agree, grafiti is much better than pee spots, but I have to admit it is reassuring to see yellow marks on the glacier when one is not so sure about the direction.

yes.. to true to true.. when wandering along in a whiteout you gain some serious confidence in your route finding as you come across a series of yellow marks in the snow.. initials or just spots they build a bit of surety.
