Nice shot! You are a better photo archiver than I, Bob. I still can't find my pre-eruption St. Helens shots!
Great work.

Re: Nice shot! Thanks Don! Can't find 'em? Hope you do find them soon, and when you do I'd like to see what you've got. I'd be willing to scan them if you wish. Are they negs or slides? Can't remember what you told me.
Bob

Nice photo of a mountain that was.Thank you for sharing. Your photos quality is quite good. Is it a scanned 35mm print? Or a scanned negative?

Re: Nice photo of a mountain that was. Thanks Jon! Note that this photo has been there since day 1 of the St. Helens page back in 2001, but with the deluge of shots posted for St. Helens it got buried. So I tried to resurrect it by using it as the signature photo. This is neither scanned print nor a negative, but a scanned slide, as most of my submissions are. I use an older Minolta Dimâge Scan Dual film scanner. For years all I shot was Kodachrome 64, but now use Fuji Provia when shooting film. I always liked slides because you can always tell exactly what you get with a slide, and they're much more versatile than prints.

Wow!That is an amazingly beautful shot!
Even though I've climbed it a few times, and lived near it for years, I didn't recognize the pre-eruption picture of the mountain until someone told me what it was.

Re: Wow!Thanks! It was such a gorgeous mountain - did you see it before the eruption? Where did you live? -Bob

Re: Wow!No, I was living in Alabama when it blew. And probably like every other person in the states for that year, had a volcano as my submission to the science fair.
I moved to Portland in 1997 (many years after the eruption).

Re: Great shot! Thanks Maurice! So are you related to the composer of Daphnis et Chloé, Rapsodie Espagnole, Bolero, etc.?

Re: Great shot!Haha - no - I wish I were in a way, at least related...my real name is Eric. I'm a musician myself, and Ravel is one of my favorite composers, and the idea of using his name as a pseudonym just popped spontaneously into my mind...Other people on this site chose composers as well; we have an albanberg, for instance...

Re: Great shot!:-) I enjoy Ravel's music also. Hadn't seen AlbanBerg or any other composers' names here. Interesting. I guess if I were to choose a composer's name it would be GustavMahler or DmitriShostakovich...

Re: Great shot!Tip: search for albanberg (only small letters).

Re: Great shot! Thanks for the tip -- I saw your dialog with the other Eric where he talked about being a composer. :-) Did I miss something else?
